January 9, 2001 - Tuesday

It's hard to believe that I'm leaving Hawaii tonight already. I couldn't sleep for some reason after 8:00 and rolled out of bed and started packing and tried to take care of some errands. After taking a quick shower, I met up with Maria at her bank and got the power supply for my camera back. After chatting with her for a while about the classes she disliked for this semester, we parted company and I headed back to the hotel. Maria was a very interesting girl and it's too bad I didn't know anybody like that in the previous places I lived.

After running back to the hotel, my cousin Patty pulled up shortly and I gave her the small present that my mom wanted to give her. I got the chance to hold the baby again and took a few pictures with the baby. We said our good-byes too after that and I went back upstairs to pack a few things I no longer needed to carry with me on my trip. It's weird saying good-byes and I don't know if I would ever get used to doing it.

Clownfish Tank - Waikiki Aquarium (Oahu), Hawaii, USA

I took a slow stroll across the beaches of Waikiki again and stopped at the International Market Place to get myself a large bowl of delicious Chinese shaved ice before continuing to the Aquarium.

Sea Dragon Tank - Waikiki Aquarium (Oahu), Hawaii, USA

The Aquarium costs $7, which is a bit pricey for such a small aquarium, but they give you an audio wand that talks about more than 50 exhibits. The aquarium is probably one of the best maintained I've seen in terms of quality of vertebrates and invertebrates displayed. I was able to take some pictures of the tank exhibits with my new camera and they came out really good.

Jeff at Apua Point - Volcanoes National Park (Big Island), Hawaii, USA

After spending a few hours at the aquarium, I trekked back to the hotel to meet up with Chris so we could meet up with Jeff and Mark for dinner. We all met up at Keo's across the park from the hotel to eat. It's a nice Thai restaurant with appetizing foods. I said goodbye to Chris and Mark after that and Jeff took me to the airport. Aloha! On to the Cook Islands!
