June 24, 2001 - Sunday - Rai Lay Beach to Ko Phi Phi, Thailand

Blondie gave us a big good bye this morning as we boarded our ferry to Kho Phi Phi. The ride was uneventful and we stayed in an air-conditioned cabin and relaxed a bit before arriving at Kho Phi Phi. We were all impressed when we saw the island, which was covered in green and towered over sparkling turquoise water.
After landing, we walked through a maze of shops and restaurants to find accommodations. We finally found it at a home stay and paid 100 Bhat each for the night. The bay looked inviting and refreshing. We unpacked and went to have lunch at the Viking, which was recommended by Jonathan and Patrick, both of whom I met again.

We went to the other bay after that and swam a little bit. The water was a little dirty from vegetation debris but not too bad. We then went to have dinner and then saw Thai kickboxing at the Reggae Bar afterward. There were 4 pair of fighters and I won 2 out of 3 round betting against Grant. It looked a little fake at times and I wondered if it's legit. We went up to the disco after that and Big Bird (my nickname for Dirk) hopped and danced on the dance floor.
June 25, 2001 - Monday - Ko Phi Phi, Thailand

It was another day of beach, nice food and movie for the day. We went to eat and Grant and Dirk went to the beach for a read and snooze while I went for a snorkel right outside our home stay. The reef was just OK - not much to see and not to brilliant. We met up to go for a hike up to the viewpoint, which has an incredible view of both bays. The hike was strenuous but rewarding.
We saw movies at dinner again and then went to make our rounds various bars on the island. There were several lady boys making passes at Grant and Dirk, which I thought was quite amusing.
