February 23, 2001 - Friday - Marlborough Sounds to Picton to Wellington
We caught the water taxi back to Picton and I had lunch with Prisca and Karsten before heading to the ferry to go to Wellington. I was the only one heading that way so it was a bit strange to be alone again after spending a week being surrounded by friends. It's almost like a withdrawal of some sort. I stayed at the YHA this time and it was a good choice - A 4-share dorm without any hassles.
February 24, 2001 - Saturday - Wellington to Taupo

Dino was our bus driver again and his nasally whine and blasting loud country music just made the trip miserable for everyone. You can't even go to sleep. We made a brief stop at the art deco town of Napier before continuing on to Taupo. We were told that this is the longest segment of a Magic route, and it certainly felt like it with Dino as the driver.
