Abel Tasman Natinal Park, New Zealand
I groggily woke up for the 7:00 shuttle to Abel Tasman National Park. Our shuttle dropped us off at the town of Kaiteriteri and we boarded a ferry and headed to Torrent Bay. We waded onto the shore and started our trek toward Marahau. The trail wound through the hills along the shoreline of the park but most of it was overgrown with trees so you don't get the ocean view all the time.

Nick and Patrik at Cleo Petra's Pools, Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand
We made our first stop at Cleopatra's Pool, which was a shallow pool area where people can swim and have a picnic. There were some very slippery rocks here and a few Japanese girls giggled as they tried to walk across the rocks and slipped, despite strong warnings from everybody around the pool. They didn't comprehend the urgency in our warnings I guess. I can see why there are so many accidents involving Japanese tourists. The ones here were lucky, they didn't really hurt themselves when they slipped, except for a few scrapes and bruises.

Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand
The hike went on for a while and the scenery along the way was very nice, but not spectacular. The entire hike took us a little more than 5 hours, and I was knackered at the end of the hike. We all boarded the bus at 5:30 and headed back to the hostel. I made some noodles for dinner with some bread and Patrick and Nick finally made the tuna surprise that Patrick was promising for the past few weeks. I had a taste - it was OK, after Nick's intervention.
We also found out that fat farting Larry caught the 3:30 bus back from Abel Tasman. He claimed that he hiked the whole way but we got another story from a girl who said they took a boat to get back to the pickup point. I don't know whom to believe, but I hate to believe Fat Larry because it would mean he beat us to the finish line by at least 2 hours.
