January 31, 2001 Wednesday - Rotorua to Turangi, New Zealand
We left Rotorua this morning with a new bus driver. His name is Dino and he just kept on constant chattering through the whole ride. His nasally voice blared through the speakers and it was rather annoying.

| Lady Knox Geyser Erupting... heh... I said "Erupting"..., New Zealand |
The bus, along with dozens of other buses stopped at the Lady Knox Geyser which was suppose to blow up at 10:15AM everyday. After the audience gathered at an outside amphitheater right around the geyser, we had a little intro from the ranger before he dumped some soap into the opening of the geyser to induce the eruption.
He said this is so we didn't have to wait plus or minus 4 hours to wait for the geyser to shoot off. We stopped at Huka Falls after that and half of the people went along for a hike while some other people went skydiving. Huka Falls had incredibly clear deep blue water churning through a narrow river.

People took pictures before hiking to where we were supposed to be picked up in an hour. I let the group of chatty hikers go ahead of me and took my time with my hike. The whole river was crystal clear which was very cool looking. We finally arrived at the pickup point half hour early but there's a hot water pool around there so some people went into the water for a soak.

The bus picked us up again and we picked up the people who did the sky diving and headed south again to Turangi at Club Habitat hostel. I thought the hostel was fine but some people didn't like it. We were put into a room together and had the bar-b-q with the Magic group.
Fat Larry was put in the same dorm with us and he kept farting which Patrick and Nick found quite amusing but I thought it was kinda gross. We hung around the bar after that and played pool. I met up with the 2 bleached Dutch guys again and chatted with them for a while, then it was to bed.
