Welcome to my Singapore and Malaysia page.
Friendly people, yummy food, beautiful beaches with swaying palm trees, lush forests and rice paddies made Malaysia a delightful visit.
I was a bit hesitant about this country because like Indonesia, it's a Muslim-dominated country but the people are just one of the most friendly and peaceful people I've ever met.
$ - US$1 = 3.8 Malaysian Ringits
The best and worst of Malaysia. Note that this is my personal opinion and I only had limited exposure to the country. If there are any other categories you would like me to list, please send me an email.
| Places to eat (on a backpacker's budget): | Best: Cheap, large plates of Malaysian and SE Asian dishes for only $1! Available in most towns / restaurants.
Worst: None experienced |
| Places to get smashed/drunk/pissed: | This is not a big drinking or partying country. |
| Hostel: | Best: Most hotels are half decent for only US$2-8 for a double. Scout before you buy. No bargaining.
Worst: There are some dodgy dingy A-frame places that I skipped on Pangkor Island. |
| Activity: | Best: Chilling out on the Perenthian Islands
Worst: Fending off mozzies and trying to sleep on the floor at the bus station in Tai-Ping. |
| Scenery: | Best: Same as activity above. |
| Chilling Out:: | Best: Same as activity above. |
| Danger: | Some poisonous snakes, but none encountered. |
