March 13, 2000 - Monday
Today we went up to the Mariposa hotel/restaurant for breakfast. They have an open-air dining area that looks over the open expanse of Pacific Ocean 270 degrees. It was a standard breakfast buffet, with freshly cut fruits and a variety of fruit juices. Even though the gratuity is included for both Costa Rica and Bermuda, the waiters and waitresses here are much nicer and better at serving people. But let me make it clear that when I discuss about services in Bermuda, I'm talking about Bermudian waiters and waitresses. Their jobs are guaranteed and it's almost impossible for them to get fired, so they don't have much incentive to put any efforts into it. Most of the expatriates working in Bermua's service industry are all professionally trained - but I digress...
After breakfast, we had a leisurely swim in the pool before heading down to the beach again until sunset. There was a small commotion on the beach and it was about some white faced monkey and squirrel monkey in the trees.
After swimming some more in the pool, we went out to dinner at The Karolas. I had garlic butter basted grilled jumbo shrimp, which were really good and fresh too. I really haven't had a relaxing-do-nothing vacation for a long long time and it's great. I've been rushing around to do all the touristy things in past vacations and I hate feeling rushed. We finished the night with more soaking in the pool and just watching the stars overhead and listening to the night insects.
