9/1/2009 – Warning! Wine lovers don’t read this one. We went on a tour of Francis Ford Coppola’s winery (he still lives here) and tasted 9 different wines.

Is it me or are there some very pretentious people who are wine drinkers? There was a guy on there with a 5 inch Polo Ralph Laurent logo on his shirt (which will go out of style shortly except in the ghettos) with a Bluetooth ear piece permanently attached to his ear which I heard greatly enhances one’s sense of self-importance.

I wanted to scream “NO! I CAN’T taste the difference between wine that’s been stored in French lowland oak vs. the wine stored in French highland oak!” when people commented on the difference.

I feel like I was in an episode of Frasier when people mention that they tasted stuff like “sun-ripen blackberry”, “maple syrup”, “cured meat”, “leather” and “hints of vanilla chocolate”. I whispered “I taste dirty sneakers and rubbing alcohol” and was promptly greeted with some dirty looks.

I guess I’m just not sophisticated enough to appreciate wine or tell a big difference between the $150 Rubicon wine vs. some other $30 wine during the tasting. So from the tour I understand that wine is made from grape juice that has been manually induced with yeast infection to create an unsweetened sour grape juice called wine.

Who in the world taste wine or beer for the first time and say to him/herself “boy, this is delicious”? Anyway – had a good spa resort experience (my first) but I’d rather drink water or juice or rum vs. wine or beer. It took me a while to get used to / like cheese, but I doubt that will happen with wine anytime soon.

George - Freakin hilarious!! Although I do like beer and can be a so called beer snob. However, when it comes to wine, I can only tell you if I like it or not......... I don't know where these people come up with the descriptions like you said. I don't know, it tastes like effin wine to me!!!!

Oh, and great photo btw!!! one of my faves so far. Do I have to buy it from you?? :p

You are a scream, but spot on! I check out your pics regularly too - keep it up immigrant boy!

you didn't get to taste any barnyard? i like wine but i am still trying to figure out why barnyard would be considered a favorable flavor... but if goslings is on the list i will go there first - however that's not generally the case in charlotte…

You literally make me LOL! I can taste the difference between white and red (if my eyes are open).

You are wise, Grasshopper!

i'm with you. water or juice are def. both better than snobby wine. I actually loathe those winos
