9/9/2009 – We had several beautiful days in the Big Sur area. First day was spent at Point Lobos State Preserve – one of the best state parks in the country IMHO. There were seals and otters and beautiful coastal hikes. The day ended with camping in Big Sur and watching the silhouette of dolphins playing in the sunset. I love Big Sur. The coastal drive along Big Sur is simply amazing. It’s the most beautiful drive I’ve ever been on. To truly experience it, you need to stay there a few days, preferably camping. One morning when we woke up, all we could see was a thick fog below us obscuring the whole shoreline. We were camping about 750 feet above sea level. It took a few hours of morning sun before the fog was burned off.
